The RUO framework

Research Use Only (RUO) is a regulatory classification for products intended solely for laboratory investigation. An RUO product is not a drug, not a dietary supplement, not a cosmetic, and not a medical device. It has not been reviewed, cleared, approved, or otherwise evaluated by the United States Food and Drug Administration for any use.

Because an RUO product carries no approved use, it is supplied without directions for use in humans, and no representation is made regarding safety or effect in humans. Material sold under this classification is intended to be handled by qualified personnel in a laboratory setting.

Permitted applications

Compounds listed in the EvolvP catalog are supplied as reference and reagent material for in-vitro assays, analytical method development, instrument calibration and comparison, stability and formulation studies, and animal-model studies conducted under applicable institutional and regulatory oversight.

Product descriptions on this site are limited to peptide identity and sequence class, CAS number, molecular presentation, measured purity, third-party assay method and result, and recommended storage conditions. No other characterization is offered because no other characterization can be sourced from the filed certificate of analysis.

Prohibited uses

Material supplied by EvolvP must not be administered to humans by any route, must not be ingested, injected, inhaled, or applied to the body, and must not be used for diagnostic, prophylactic, or therapeutic purposes. It must not be resold or repackaged for any of those purposes.

EvolvP does not provide dosing information, preparation or reconstitution instructions for human use, protocols directed at a human subject, or guidance of any kind concerning personal use. Requests for such information will not be answered.

Purchaser responsibility

Customers are responsible for determining that intended research use is lawful in their jurisdiction, for holding the facilities and training appropriate to handle laboratory reagents, and for complying with all applicable institutional, local, state, federal, and international requirements governing possession, handling, and disposal.

Purchasers are referred to throughout this site as customers or researchers. EvolvP does not provide clinical services and has no patients.

Documentation and traceability

Every released lot is assayed by an independent accredited laboratory and indexed by the lot code printed on the vial label. The certificate of analysis records compound identity, CAS number, lot, assay method, measured purity, water content, endotoxin result, test date, retest date, storage conditions, and issuing laboratory.

Certificates are retrievable by lot number from the batch verification tool on the home page, and full chromatograms are available on request against a lot number.

Attestation required at checkout

Every order requires the purchaser to affirm the following before it is accepted:

“I am purchasing this product for legitimate laboratory research purposes only, am not purchasing for human or animal consumption, and am 21 years of age or older.”
